Merry Christmas!

Round The Bridges 2013
Another year goes flying by! Another big one. Thanks to all the people who have helped support the band by listening to our music or coming to the shows. Especially to everyone who got behind the long awaited album release and helped raise awareness for the Blues September campaign. It's a good cause and I appreciate your help.

This also marks the end of my second year giving music lessons in the local schools. I have learnt a great deal from my students. So for all the young musicians from Lil Pumpkins, Montessori, Tamahere and Rukuhia schools, keep safe over your holidays and continue to enjoy exploring music. I look forward to seeing you all again next year - and hearing you play too!

It feels good to be encouraging the next generation of musicians. I had my first public performance at aged 11 and I have played in all sorts of venues over the last 30 years. Some have been more remarkable than others. As a fan of The Hobbit since childhood, this week I'm booked for a very special Christmas party. I play at The Green Dragon in Hobbiton!

So it really has been a year to expect the unexpected. I've worked with some amazing people who have inspired me to do my best always, with their enthusiasm, dedication, and passion for life. It has been a good year.

God bless you and your families. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and see you again in 2014!

Another Hour of Blues Power with Darcy Perry

Episode # 411, 4 December 2013

Ok, I'm officially hooked. Thanks to Nate Taiapa, I'm spinning discs on The Blues Room, with a show he's named the "Hour of Blues Power". It feels good to spread the joy I feel for good music from all around the world. I also share some music history, the occasional tale from the road and let people know what's going on currently on the blues scene.

This episode includes a diverse bag of blues, old and new, including local sensation Swamp Thing.

Thanks to Nate Taiapa, Free FM 89.0 and the Hamilton Blues Society.
